Celebrating Brittany Bernard: A Role Model and Advocate for Youth Success
At StepStones for Youth, our front-line team of Connection Coordinators is a remarkable group of individuals dedicated to supporting and empowering the youth they work with. Each member of this team plays a vital role in helping youth overcome barriers and achieve their goals. Today, we’re excited to highlight one of these extraordinary individuals: Brittany Bernard.
Brittany has been with StepStones for Youth for a year and a half, and in that time, she has become an integral part of our community. Her dedication extends beyond her daily responsibilities—she has enthusiastically participated in engagement activities, supported events, and even shared her culinary talents. Brittany’s famous curry goat has been one of the highlights and all-time favorites at our Tuesday Dinners and Holiday Dinner, where she brings not just nourishment but joy and a sense of family.
Inspiring Change Through Education
One of Brittany’s standout accomplishments is her unwavering commitment to helping youth see the value of education. Last year, she set a goal to increase educational enrollment and engagement among the youth she supports, and she is proud to say she has achieved it.
Brittany believes in the transformative power of education and serves as a living example of its impact. She shares her own journey with the youth in her care, speaking openly about the challenges she faced growing up and the desire she had to change her circumstances. As the first in her family to graduate from post-secondary school, Brittany knows first hand how education opens doors and builds a foundation for success.
Building Confidence and Trust
Brittany’s approach is deeply personal. She recognizes the unique potential in each youth and tailors her guidance to their individual needs, always approaching them with optimism and admiration. She doesn’t just talk about what’s possible—she shows them.
Her honesty and relatability build trust, while her example inspires confidence. For youth who doubt their ability to succeed in school, Brittany provides consistent support and guides them on their journey to find the educational path that is right for them.
Celebrating Success
Thanks to Brittany’s efforts, many of the youth in her care are now either enrolled in or graduating from high school and post-secondary institutions, including George Brown College, Trent University, Humber College, Toronto Metropolitan University, York University, and Centennial College. Brittany is testament to how our Connection Coordinators support youth in their educational journeys through applying for post-secondary education, navigating the school system, and accessing the right resources to fund their educational pursuits. Driven and talented as they are, and with Brittany’s unwavering belief in their potential, youth at StepStones gain the confidence to build the foundation for the futures they deserve.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Brittany’s hard work and dedication are an inspiration to us all. She gives youth the confidence to step out of their comfort zones, see the value of education, and pursue their passions.
Please join us in celebrating Brittany Bernard—an extraordinary Connections Coordinator whose passion and determination is changing lives. Thank you, Brittany, for your tireless efforts and for being a role model for the youth we serve.
